TNNA Membership Requirements
Wholesale, Retail and Affiliate Members

TNNA is a trade association open only to verifiable businesses providing services and/or products for the needlearts industry. New applicants must provide proper business identification.

TNNA offers three types of membership:

  • Wholesale Members are companies that exhibit (or intend to exhibit) at TNNA's trade shows. These companies may be wholesalers, manufacturers, designers, publishers, business services, etc., and most often focus on business-to-business sales. Dues are based on a percentage of yearly gross sales (between $225 and $850/year).
  • Retail Members are businesses that primarily focus on business-to-consumer sales. They are often retail stores, but may also be mail order/online companies or finished product manufacturers. These companies attend TNNA shows. Dues are $60/year for all Retail Members.
  • Affiliate Members are other companies that provide services or materials in support of the needlearts industry. They may be designers, teachers, manufacturers' reps, wholesaler/manufacturer, publishers, organizations,industry educators, finishers or business services. Affiliate Members may focus on business-to-business or business-to-consumer sales. Affiliate Members may attend TNNA shows. Dues are $60/year for all Affiliate Members.

All TNNA Memberships, including optional Product Segment Group Membership add-ons, run from October 1 through September 30 each year, with no prorating of dues.

Business Identification Requirements

WHOLESALE MEMBERSHIP- Download Application

Wholesalers must provide three items from the following :

  • Corporate seal
  • Company brochure/catalog/Website
  • Copy of an ad
  • Current lease in company name
  • Copy of an invoice in company name
  • Literature about product line

RETAIL MEMBERSHIP- Download Application

Retailers must provide a copy of most recent Sales Tax Return* plus two items from the following:

*For a new business, if no sales tax has been filed yet, a copy of the sales tax certificate or seller's permit is required.

  • Copy of three current dated invoices from three TNNA suppliers for $200 or more
  • Copy of ad
  • Copy of canceled check from a TNNA supplier
  • Copy of store lease
  • Copy of company business check
  • Copy of payroll check stub
  • Copy of utility invoice in company name with current date
  • Copy of Yellow Pages or White Pages listing with current date

For traditional retail stores not yet open, two letters of introduction from TNNA Wholesale Members are also required.

A home-based retail business must have a fully established display area and customer access and regular store hours. In addition must include:

  • Photograph of store interior/exterior with signage
  • Copy of most recent sales tax return* 
  • Two of the Retailer ID's from list above

*For a new business, if no sales tax has been filed yet, a copy of the sales tax certificate or seller's permit is required.

Mail Order/Online companies must provide:

  • Copy of a current catalog or Internet address with proof of ownership of domain name
  • Three of the retail requirements - must include three invoices from three TNNA industry suppliers for $200 or more (counted as 1 item)
  • Copy of most recent sales tax return*

*For a new business, if no sales tax has been filed yet, a copy of the sales tax certificate or seller's permit is required.

Finished Product Manufacturers (companies that are boutique manufacturers selling finished product at retail or through direct markets) must provide:
  • Three of the retail requirements plus a catalog/brochure/Website showing their finished product

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP- Download Application

Designers (individuals who design for industry wholesale and retail companies or magazines) must provide:
  • Two letters of introduction from current TNNA Wholesale Members representing their product segment*
  • Published work (e.g., printed pattern published within the last two years, full copy) OR published article (published within the last two years, full copy)
  • Must have published with the last two years or have a letter from a current TNNA Wholesale Member stating that you are actively designing for them

Teachers must provide:

  • Two letters of introduction*
  • Resume or biography
  • Published work (e.g. magazine, show or conference)
  • Outline of class projects they have taught

Manufacturer’s Representatives must provide

  • Two letters of introduction*
  • Copy of a current commission statement from a recognized industry wholesaler

Wholesaler/Manufacturer must provide two letters of introduction* plus three items from the following:

  • Corporate seal
  • Company brochure/catalog/Website
  • Copy of ad
  • Copy of company check
  • Current lease in company name
  • Literature about product line

Publishers must provide two letters of introduction* plus:

  • Copy of published material (e.g., magazine, book, Website, blog, etc.)
  • Company business card

Organization must provide two letters of introduction* plus:

  • Printed material with definition of organization (e.g., membership brochure, newsletter, etc.)
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation
  • Copy of company business check

Industry Educators (those individuals with interest in needlearts industry education (i.e. professors, textile, museum educators, etc.) must provide two letters of introduction* plus:

  • Printed materials with information about school, college, museum, etc.
  • Resume/CV/Biography
  • Outline of Classes

Business Services Business or individuals providing profession services to the needlearts industry. (i.e. Web design, marketing services merchandising display providers, etc.) Must provide two letters of introduction* and two items from the following:

  • Printed literature about services
  • Copy of current invoice for $200 or more
  • Resale tax certificate
  • Company check

*All Affiliate classifications must include two letters of introduction from Wholesale or Retail Members along with the IDs required above.
