FAQ: Future Locations & Dates

Posted By Guy Googins II, TNNA Staff, Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Are there any discussions about locating future TNNA trade shows in different cities? What about future dates?

Right now, there are no specific discussions on future locations as we are hard at work producing the best events possible for the remainder of 2014 and into 2015.

But, be assured, future locations and dates beyond 2015 are definitely up for discussion, including east coast and south.

Something to understand about site selection is the nature of the convention center industry and hotel industry. Facilities, like the Columbus Convention Center for example, work many years in advance to book their properties. They market themselves to hundreds of organizations around the world - many that are much larger than TNNA. The convention center’s objective is to book the biggest group for the longest period of time and for the most money. They have no allegiances with local organizations.

TNNA works diligently to find the best locations possible for our events. It is simply the nature of the industry that sometimes we may be unable to land the exact location we want or the exact dates we want.

NOTE: In March, the largest trade show in the U.S., CONEXPO-CON/AGG, will be held in Las Vegas. CECA, as it’s known to planners, will encompass over 2.5 MILLION net square feet of space (25X the size of TNNA San Diego!), have 2,400 exhibitors, and 125,000 attendees. Not only does CECA have little influence on the specific dates of their show, this year Las Vegas actually moved their dates several weeks earlier AFTER the contract was signed.
