Posted By India Hart Wood, Hart Business Research, Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Make sure you have the canvases and instruction for what your customers want to create more of in 2016: pillows and 3-D hanging ornaments. Investigate growing interest in belts. Continue to support the most popular project categories of flat hanging ornaments and pieces for wall display. As always, take your own look at the data and shape your plans around your customers.

Percentage of needlepointers who made each kind of project in 2012 and 2015 and are likely to do so in 2016:

Notes: 2012 survey did not include some categories added or split in 2015/2016. “Holiday tree ornaments” were created by 65% of needlepointers in 2012. Survey questions: “How many of each kind of project did you complete in 2015?” “What kinds of projects are you likely to do in 2016?”

  • Freshness: Surveyed January 25 to February 15, 2016
  • Respondents: 15,288 from seven fiber arts in USA, including 1,058 needlepointers
