It’s only May, but TNNA is just around the corner. As you can well imagine, we have been busy getting ready to have a fantastic show, and we have A LOT of fun events for you from the Yarn Group. This is your comprehensive Yarn Group Show Guide! We will follow up with more information about each of the events and sponsorship opportunities in the coming weeks.
On the Show Floor:
- NEW! Yarn Group Booth Hop
Based on the popular Shop Hop model, the Yarn Group Booth Hop will bring retailers to your booth to learn more about your product, and hopefully place orders.
- Yarn Group Lounge
Sign up to sponsor the Yarn Group Lounge, and get more visibility on the show floor! Sponsors may display one garment (Yarn Group will provide a mannequin), and leave promotional material on display in the Lounge. Your company’s logo will also be prominently displayed in the Lounge, and you will receive a Thank You in the post-show newsletter.
- NEW! New Exhibitor Sponsorship
Sign up to sponsor the Yarn Group Lounge for a one-time only New Exhibitor price of $50! This is a great way to get introduced to how Yarn Group activities work, and can get you noticed by attendees.
Friday, June 10th Events:
- Volunteer to help decorate the TNNA Window Displays!
If retail merchandising is your thing, this is a great way to get involved behind the scenes with TNNA. At each show, the product segment groups get together and find volunteers to design retail display windows in the lobby of the convention center. This year, Yarn Group is partnering with the Spinning and Weaving Group, as well as the Counted Thread and Embroidery, and Needlepoint Groups to make a really exciting CRAFT shop window, incorporating all the aspects of TNNA. The theme for the window displays is Americana.
- Email email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering or loaning items for display
- Fashion Show
This year we are kicking-off the Friday festivities with the Fashion Show! Don’t miss this opportunity to show off your garments or accessories on the Fashion Show runway, giving your company pre-show recognition, as participants get excited to view the upcoming styles. Participation is open to Yarn Group members.
- NEW! Indie Fashion Show, Juried Event!
A new event that will liven up the runway at the Fashion Show! Yarn Group has solicited designers from outside of TNNA to submit their designs for consideration for entry into the TNNA Fashion Show. The goal is to bring new designers into the industry, and for yarn companies to discover new designers! Everybody wins. Five finalists will be chosen by a panel of industry pros to show their garments on the runway. The winners will be announced following the Fashion Show at the Awards Ceremony.
- Awards Ceremony
Following the Fashion Show, stay for the TNNA Awards Ceremony!
- Sample It!
While technically a Counted Thread and Embroidery event, many Yarn Group members enjoy participating in Sample It! On Friday night, following the Fashion Show, you can preview and sell your new items to attendees.
Sunday, June 12th Events:
- Yarn Group Meeting
Our meeting will be on Sunday night from 6:15-7:30 pm. India Hart will be there to share the State of the Needle Arts Industry Survey results, and a panel discussion will follow. Courtney will also present the NEW Yarn Group website to membership.
- NEW! Yarn Group Meeting AFTER PARTY!
Join us at Flight DC, just a short walk or cab (or Uber) from the convention center for a Yarn Group party! Flight is DC’s premiere wine bar, and Yarn Group will enjoy a private party for members only featuring an open bar as well as small plates and appetizers.
$30 per ticket, limited quantity available so don’t wait! Reserve your tickets today!
Monday, June 13th Events:
- EXCLUSIVE! Field Trip to the National Museum of American History
Yarn Group has organized a behind the scenes tour of the Division of Home and Community Life at the National Museum of American History at 1pm on Monday June 13th. Curator of Textiles, Madelyn Shaw, has graciously scheduled a private knitting and crochet focused tour to view such National treasures as Mr. Roger’s sweater and more. Join tour guide and Yarn Group member Sonya Phillips (100 Acts of Sewing) on this incredible opportunity! We have rented a shuttle to take participants to the museum. $25.
- Sign up now - only 10 spaces available!
- Tours generally last 60-90 minutes. There is no place for visitors to sit in storage, so visitors need to be prepared to stand for that length of time.
Whew! With so much going on, this TNNA is sure to be a success for you and your business. I can’t express how much I love Washington, DC and I look forward to seeing you all at the show.
