TNNA Needlearts Business Innovation Awards 2013
Brought to You by TNNA and Hart Business Research
The National NeedleArts Association (TNNA) and Hart Business Research presented awards and prizes to the winners of the 3rd annual TNNA Business Innovation Awards on Friday, June 28. The judges used four main criteria to choose winners: innovativeness of business initiative, measurable or forecast impact of the initiative of the applicant's business,usefulness of application as a case study for others, and innovations fit with market trends, such as those described in The State of Specialty NeedleArts 2010, demographic data, or from the applicant's own research.

The judges awarded awards over $15,000 in prizes in four categories.

Team: Theresa and Mike Swiecicki
Innovation: Built floor and display racks to fit big front window of new location with high foot traffic. Displays easy to change 2x/month.

Innovation: Handpainted wooden artworks with inset needlepoint canvases.

Team: Barbara Pushies and Maridee Nelson
Innovation: Mobile shop carrying high quality yarns to parties, events, and communities lacking a LYS. Focused on exclusive colors, local products, teaching, social media.

Yarn Wholesaler Winner: Skacel Collection
Team: Chuck Wilmesher, Karin Skacel and Cirilia Rose
Innovation: Online knitwear design competition with 7 challenges and 12 contestants. Skacel sells winning designs as kits.
