This day-long, in-depth education program is designed with you mind! Introduced at the 2015 shows, this day-long event continues to be popular with needlearts professionals as it provides a detailed look at topics that are affecting you and your business. Your class fee includes breakfast, Retailers' Luncheon, and Sessions 1 & 2 of your chosen track. And don't forget to sign up for one of the LAB sessions on Sunday where you will have the opportunity to apply the skills you've learned before you head home.

Stranded Intarsia (F101T)

Technique (Knitting)

This class combines intarsia and Fair Isle to produce patterns that change color both vertically and horizontally. We will learn what makes a motif successful using this hybrid technique and then knit a small sampler using either a motif that's provided or one of your very own. At the end of the adventure, you'll leave the class with a souvenir swatch that will serve as inspiration for future projects.

Technique: Knitting
Skill Level: Intermediate
Students should bring: 4-8 skeins (partial skeins are fine) of different colors of yarn (at least one neutral), all worsted weight, circular knitting needles appropriate for the yarn you have selected (I like to have a variety of needles with me when creating a new design), stitch markers, pencil, stick ruler, measuring tape, calculator, sticky notes or magnetic board to keep your place on the chart and the usual knitting bag filled with treasures.

If you are looking for a new way to create interesting fabric on your rigid heddle loom, this class will certainly interest you. While making a lovely scarf, you will learn about setting your warp threads at different densities to make a more interesting fabric. Then by beating at different rates, you will weave a beautiful textural pattern.

Students should bring: Scissors, tube from inside a paper towel roll, 2 brown paper grocery bags, measuring tape

Royalty at its finest is evident in this wonderful 10" x 10" design by Leigh Designs on 13" x 13" cut 18ct canvas. Bling? Did you say bling? Let Sandy show you how to add bling through jewels and creating the jewel look. The richness of velvet, gold, ermine, oh my! There will be pearls, crystals and gold to give this beautiful design life. Techniques will possibly include turkey work, couching, bullion knots, darning and many more.

Adding beads to your knitting is fun and the results are magical! In this class we will talk about different ways that beads can be added and discuss the pros and cons of each. Putting our new knowledge to use, we will make a cute beaded coaster. You'll leave with the confidence, skills and resources needed to incorporate beads into your projects.

Students should bring: Fingering weight yarn, light in color and smooth (preferably a wool or protein-based fiber), circular and/or straight knitting needles that yield a nice stockinette fabric with this yarn (bring a few different sizes), notebook, pencil and the usual knitting bag filled with treasures.

Come join us as we stitch this delightful Halloween piece from Burnett & Bradley; it's a new addition to this wonderful line that your customers will surely love. We'll use a variety of threads from Kreinik Mfg. Co., Inc., and Rainbow Gallery. We'll embellish with little flowers and beads from Sundance Designs and of course, lots of fun stitches. With its vibrant colors and interesting techniques, teaching this class in your shop should be fun for your customers and profitable for you.
