Practicing Self-care With the Craft Yarn Council

TNNA encourages you to Stitch Away Stress

Do you regularly practice self-care as a way to de-stress? Or, do you scratch your head in confusion whenever you hear that term?

April is Stress Awareness Month and, as is customary, the Craft Yarn Council is hosting its annual #StitchAwayStress campaign to educate people about the wellness benefits of fiber arts. The 2019 campaign is all about self-care and the ways that yarn plays a role in taking care of yourself. Join along for the remainder of the month to discover final tips on how to incorporate self-care into your life, meditative stitches to practice, soft yarns to soothe your nerves and so much more!

The council promoted a survey on social media in February and March to get a glimpse into the self-care habits of yarn crafters and to find out how yarn contributes to their wellness. Last year’s survey showed that 94 percent of knitters and crocheters say the crafts help them relax, 80 percent say the skills help them reduce stress and 70 percent say it helps improve their mood.

The results of the 2019 survey show what fiber artists have to say about what causes them stress, how they incorporate self-care into their lives and the role that yarn plays in their wellness.
