#NeedleStoresoftheWorld: Jimmy Beans Wool

Happy September, TNNA! We’re here to ease into the Fall season with another store highlight. This month, it’s all about Nevada’s Jimmy Beans Wool.

Describe what Jimmy Beans Wool does best.

For more than 10 years, Jimmy Beans Wool has been a stand-out LYS in its community (and in the U.S. overall). Since launching its online store, the team has been able to expand its reach and even offers exclusive products to Jimmy Beans customer only.

When it comes to the name, “Jimmy” is actually Laura, who started Jimmy Beans with her husband Doug in May 2002. Her nickname, Jimmy, came from a song by Todd Snider called “Doublewide Blues.” When trying to determine a name for the store, Laura’s nickname came up and the two added “Beans” because the store was originally a coffee shop, too. Since then, the yarn has overrun the store and the coffee is gone… but the name has stuck!

What makes Jimmy Beans Wool unique?

We have an entire warehouse full of yarn to go along with our storefront. At the store, we have several rooms dedicated to specific types of yarn and notions, including Madelinetosh (or, MAD | TOSH), international brands, a needle room and even a "stash staples" room!

Share a fun fact about your store.

Owner Laura is a polyglot, which means she knows and is able to use several languages.
